The Leadership Ranch is a Challenge Course that encourages groups to discover what it takes to be an effective team. The course uses various 15-20 minute activities that are fun, challenging, and achievable to enable the participants to grow individually and as a group.
Self motivation and Emotional Intelligence are two of the biggest factors to individuals becoming effective team players.
Self Determination Theory is a research backed theory about what motivates people. The theory states that all people need autonomy, competence, and relatedness as prerequisites to self motivation. Challenge courses provide all three needs naturally through the context of playing fun games with your own group. It is a powerfully bonding experience as groups problem solve and their successes show them how competent they are.
Daniel Goleman, who researches Emotional Intelligence, says that your people skills (emotional intelligence) are twice as important for success, than your IQ and technical skills combined. Group games teach us how to work together in emotionally intelligent ways.
Group will be divided into smaller groups of 8-12 and are led through the activities by a facilitator. The group’s successes at each activity will lead to more as skills and understanding improves. Groups improve quite rapidly when they are able to observe how they work together and have fun in the process.
A session could last about 3 hours (half day) or about 6 hours. All attendees are required to complete the "low" ropes course before proceeding to the high course, usually in the afternoon or on another 'half day" session. We can accomodate most special time or activity requirements of your group. This is not boot camp, it is an inquiry into what makes groups effective and fun.
The portable course is arranged similarly and costs the same as a course on our Ranch with the addition of a travel fee. Call or e-mail for exact rates corrosponding to your group's needs.
The course has been open for more than 12 years.
