A ropes and challenge course involves a series of physical feats and exercises that require groups of people to work together in order to successfully complete the challenge of the course. Ropes and challenge courses are designed to help groups build community and team skills, to help individuals reach personal goals, and to provide a positive learning experience for all. The Leadership Ranch experience allows team members to get to know each other better and discover what it takes to be an effective team, as well as have fun in the process.
The Leadership Ranch features a combination of Low and High Ropes elements which enable participants to grow at both the team and individual levels as the challenging activities incorporate risk-taking, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence involves the utilization of human understanding in order to work with people more effectively. Daniel Goleman's book, Working with Emotional Intelligence, demonstrates how this type of intelligence is twice as important for success as IQ and technical skills combined.
The Low Ropes Course focuses on collaboration. The challenges presented require every member of the team to take active roles so that all participants experience self-discovery and team growth.
The High Ropes Course emphasizes risk-taking, trust, and confidence. The challenges allow participants to expand their comfort zones and recognize fears that may block personal achievement. Each challenge provides many discoveries, whether a person is climbing, supporting "on belay", or finding an effective way to encourage a teammate.
